Here is a chance to prevent it from happening again with a strong show of support. Last October we pointed you in the direction of the Kickstarter.com fundraiser to establish a new acoustic venue, The Woodshed, at Keith Holland Guitars in Los Gatos. That campaign was successful, resulting in a string of notable concerts, musical workshops, and more that ran from November through January. Unfortunately, everything came to a halt in February due to some complications with the Town of Los Gatos. A Special Study Session of the Los Gatos Town Council is scheduled for this Monday, March 18th to discuss The Woodshed's situation with the hope of a vote that would allow the concerts to continue. The public is invited to attend. More info at http://www.woodshed.org and here are more pertinent details from The Woodshed's email list: A message to supporters of Keith Holland Guitars and The Woodshed Please Support Keith Holland Guitars at a Los Gatos Town Council Study Session Monday March 18, 5:30 pm Los Gatos Town Council Chambers 110 East Main Street, Los Gatos CA ------------------------------------------------------------ We are grateful for the outpouring of support we've received over the past several weeks for our efforts to build community through our group classes, clubs, workshops and concerts at The Woodshed at Keith Holland Guitars. You may have seen the NBC Bay Area Investigates report last week, when George Kiriyama visited the store and interviewed Keith, along with Julian Rock Memorial Founder Don Thorvund. Our story has also been in the Los Gatos Weekly Times, and hundreds of you have written letters of support to the Town Council, Town Management and some of those letters have also been printed in the local paper. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you! We're grateful to Ron Lafrance, Rick Merritt and Don Thorvund for joining us on a special Woodshed Advisory Board. We have made tremendous progress these past few weeks, working with the planning department to understand the issues and come up with possible solutions. The initial complaint did not come from a neighbor; our neighbors are behind us 100%. We have a signed petition from our immediate neighbors supporting us. The landlord of the neighboring property on the corner of Roberts Road and Los Gatos Blvd. has offered us 20 extra parking spaces after 6:30 pm, free of charge, for which we are truly grateful. The Town Council has called for a special "Study Session" to hear our case, this Monday March 18. Keith has met or talked personally with each of the council members and the mayor. We are hopeful that the combination of your support and our efforts to resolve the main concerns of neighborhood impact and parking will persuade the council to abate code enforcement against Keith Holland Guitars, allowing us to continue offering concerts, group classes and clubs in The Woodshed while we come into compliance. Coming into compliance will include applying for a conditional use permit, which may cost around $6,000. We would love to see as many of you as are available at the 5:30 meeting to show your support for The Woodshed at Keith Holland Guitars. There will be only a small amount of time allotted for public comment, however, as the session will end promptly at 6:30 pm to allow time before the regularly scheduled town council meeting at 7:00 pm. Thank you so much, and we hope to see you on Monday - or at The Woodshed very soon!
