* SBF Open Mike and Mission City Coffee update *
************************************************
The renovations at Mission City Coffee have reached a milestone of
sorts. After weeks of preparation, and behind-the-scenes work, the
central pillar and long wall have finally been removed to yield a
much larger, unobstructed performance space. For the next couple of
weeks, the SBF open mike will be held in the other room facing Chapman
Ct. until the renovations are completed.
This August has five Thursdays, and we remind you that the SBF open mike
is now held *every* Thursday. We would also like to remind you that
until a piano is once again available to us, keyboards set to an
acoustic voice are welcomed.
SBF Acoustic Open Mike
Every Thursday from 7-10pm (sign up by 6:45pm)

2221 The Alameda, Santa Clara, CA 95050 (adjacent to Santa Clara Univ)

Mission City Coffee offers a wide variety of sandwiches and other good
food, excellent coffee, late hours, plenty of room to accommodate a
South Bay Folks crowd, and the owner is very music-friendly. It is a
pleasant space in an old building filled with character, and there are
plans afoot to make Mission City a notable South Bay venue for small,
acoustic concerts.

From I-880 heading south, take the CA-82 exit to Santa Clara
and go 0.3 mi; bear right at The Alameda - go 0.3 mi.
From I-880 heading north, take the CA-82 exit - go 0.2 mi; bear

17th or Sunday, September 24th depending on the availability of picnic
areas. We'll be sending out more info when the date is pinned down.

* West Coast Songwriters Showcase at Vasona *
*********************************************
Hot on the heels of Vasona Vibrations, the West Coast Songwriters offers
the second of two showcase concerts featuring some of the South Bay's
best songwriters this weekend at Vasona Lake County Park in Los Gatos.
This Saturday's performance features Steve Kritzer, Michael McNevin and
Greg Lamboy.
