The Espresso Garden & Cafe on Bascom Avenue was closing after nine years and there did not seem to be a lot of comparable alternatives. At about the same time, Mission City Coffee had plans to expand a way-too-cozy side room to serve as a performance space for acoustic music. Serendipity happened; we took the cue. It was a good move. April marked a year since SBF moved to Mission City. During that time we have witnessed the transformation of a small, obstructed room into a spacious performance area with excellent natural acoustics, a new stage and lighting. Owner, Jae Koo, has provided the local acoustic community with a great resource and has proved a supportive and gracious host throughout. We truly appreciate that. Thanks, Jae! *********************************************************** * 5th Annual Vasona Vibrations Free Summer Concert Series * *********************************************************** For the fifth consecutive year, Santa Clara County Parks and South Bay Folks team up to bring you free, outdoor concerts every Saturday in June and July. Located in a pleasant outdoor setting overlooking Vasona Lake and Los Gatos Creek, this nine-week series features local artists performing a wide variety of acoustic genres ranging from big band, to jazz, to traditional and contemporary folk. Pack a picnic dinner or enjoy concessions at the park, and join us this summer for Vasona Vibrations 2007. Find all of the details, including a complete performance schedule with artist info at http://www.SouthBayFolks.org/vasona/ *************************************** * South Bay Folks' Acoustic Open Mike * *************************************** 7pm-10pm Every Thursday (sign up by 6:45pm) Held at: Mission City Coffee Roasting Co. 2221 The Alameda, Santa Clara, CA 95050 (just east of Santa Clara University) tel: 408-261-2221 Sign up info and performance guidelines, map and directions at http://www.SouthBayFolks.org/openmike.html Mission City Coffee offers a wide variety of salads, sandwiches, pizzas and other good food, excellent coffee, late hours, plenty of room to accommodate a South Bay Folks crowd, and the owner, Jae, is very music-friendly.
