Unfortunately, the extended recession has taken a toll. The Cafe's final day will be Sunday, April 15th. Most events at the Cafe though April 15th are expected to occur as scheduled, including three SBF open mikes through April 12th, three more Fiddling Cricket Concerts on March 30th, April 6th and 13th, Doug Young's Acoustic Guitar Night on April 1st, and Rich Osborn's CD release party on April 7th. We can't thank Jae and his staff enough for six great years of acoustic fun. Plans are afoot for a Good-Bye party on that last weekend. We'll keep you posted. ************************************ * South Bay Folks Needs a New Home * ************************************ With the closing of Mission City, South Bay Folks is looking for a new home. Finding a new venue is easy; finding a suitable venue is hard; finding a comparable venue is exceedingly hard. We need your help. There are several factors to consider: The SBF open mike has regularly attracted 50-70 people, both musicians and audience. A suitable venue needs to have adequate seating and parking, reasonable acoustics, and a music-friendly owner. A separate space for performances is ideal, allowing for folks to socialize without adversely affecting the music. Location is important too. Mission City is conveniently situated just off of I-880, not too far north of the I-280 intersection. This has allowed us to draw upon a talent pool that reached north to San Francisco, south to Santa Cruz and Gilroy, and up I-880 into the east bay. With the above factors in mind, we are seeking suggestions for a new venue. You can reach us by simply replying to this newsletter, or by sending email to contact-sbf@SouthBayFolks.org. ********************************************************* * Vasona Vibrations Concert Series Celebrates 10 Years! * ********************************************************* For the tenth consecutive year, Santa Clara County Parks and South Bay Folks team up to bring you free, family-friendly concerts located in a pleasant outdoor setting overlooking Vasona Lake and Los Gatos Creek.
